Doing Trip to Lombok Island is not only about the beaches or gilis. It turns out that Lombok island has a myriad of waterfalls spread across several districts. The most famous one is in North of Lombok district called Tiu Kelep Waterfall . The exact location is in Senaru Village, Bayan District, North Lombok. It does have a lot of waterfalls because geographically surrounded by mountains and also close to Mount Rinjani, so the local people call North Lombok as Dayen Gunung in sasak language which means North Mountain.
Before get into Tiu Kelep Waterfall area, you will be greeted by Sendang Gile Waterfall which is not far from the entrance of the Tiu Kelep Waterfall area, Sendang Gile has a smaller water discharge than Tiu Kelep. But First, but as an opening we will see Sendang Gile like a miniature of Tiu Kelep Waterfall. You can capture photos while enjoying the atmosphere of the waterfall.
Next, you will trekking to Tiu Kelep Waterfall, will pass through a protected forest area managed by Mount Rinjani National Park, there are several animals including monkeys and lot of bird species. Cool and refreshing atmosphere will accompany your trip. There is a tour guide who will assist you during the trip, a little advice should be for you to use sandals or mountain walking shoes (sturdy shoes) because the pathway is quite rocky and slippery.
Upon arrival at the location, you will see the waterfall with a height of 42m with one main waterfall and several waterfall behind it. It is an extraordinary view that you can see. The patter and splash of water sounds very melodious. You have to feel the freshness of it. It’s said that Dewi Anjani (The Guardian of Mount Rinjani) often goes down to bathe in this waterfall, so that her face stay young and fresh like immortal. You can soak around the waterfall as a place of relaxation. Don’t forget to bring change of clothes, even though you don’t play in the water, but the splashes of water from the waterfall will make you wet.
